05/09/2008 NEWS: Pacha (London) Re-Opening Night

After spending a massive £1,000,000 on a refurb, Pacha (London), once again opened it’s doors to the public.

Bongos John & Myself were fortunate enough to be invited as VIP guests for the re-opening night.

The night was hosted by CR2, and the line up for the night is below.

10pm – 11pm: Muzz Khan
11pm – 12am: Felipe Kastegliano
12am – 1.30am: Hook ‘n’ Sling
1.30am – 3.30am: Tom Middleton
3.30 – Close: M.Y.N.C Project

Bongos John & Myself, were around for Hook ‘n’ Sling’s set and Tom Middleton’s set. Tom Middleton’s set was outstanding as always, but we were very impressed by the set from Hook ‘n’ Sling. I was able to grab a quick chat with Tom Middleton in VIP before his set, and I’ve got to say what a nice guy. As I went over to his VIP Booth he instantly put out his hand to shake mine, and asked how I was, what a nice guy.

As for the refurb at Pacha, it’s great how they’ve made more of a main feature of the DJ Booth, although it’s a bit of a shame to lose the podiums for the dancing girls/vocalists. To be quite honest both Bongos John and myself were wondering where all the £1,000,000 had been spent. We both had images of designers and builders spending the majority of the money on a beach in Barbados.

We both thought the club would of had a complete re-design, but bar areas and seating areas are still in the same place. Also more money should of been spent on the smoking area, as it’s still just an alley way outside the club.

But at the end of the day it’s still the same Pacha that we all know and love. It’s still a fantastic club, with a great vibe and you always know it’s going to have a loving crowd who are all there for the same reason – the love of the music, and other people.

A big thank you to Alex Jukes from JUKEBOXMUSIC PR, for supplying the tickets.

07/08/2008 NEWS: RIP Alan Myers 1953-2008

Not having much luck recently. Alan Myers the man who taught me about business and life has also passed away. 2 good friends passing away in less than 3 weeks is quite difficult.

He always said about making his mark on the world. He did that, but also he made a mark on me, teaching me about business and life. I learnt more off him in one evening, then I ever did in two years of Business Studies.

Hope your now at peace – Topman.

20/07/2008 NEWS: RIP Jason Fisher 1986-2008

Today Jason Fisher, the man I started my DJ’ing career with, has passed away at the age of 22.

I was only on the phone to him the other week, about meeting up for a mix. So many gigs we played together, so many laughs, so many good times. I’m really going to miss you buddy.

Keep spinning the vinyl up there. The next time we meet up for a mix, it’ll be in front of the big man and hopefully a good crowd.

I won’t forget where, and who I started in this music game with. Rest In Peace buddy.

- SMITHY (Oz).
